BATIK

Batik is a technique of wax-resist dyeing applied to whole cloth, or cloth made using this technique. Batik is made either by drawing dots and lines of the resist with a spouted tool called a canting, or by printing the resist with a copper stamp called a cap.

The applied wax resists dyes and therefore allows the artisan to color selectively by soaking the cloth in one color, removing the wax with boiling water, and repeating if multiple colors are desired.

CERAMIC

Ceramic, better known as clay, is a substance that has been used to make kitchen utensils since time immemorial, mainly bowls and cups. Up to now, it remains in use and also kept as decoration. Each ceramic product will through two types of combustion process; low temperature combustion and high temperature combustion. For low temperature combustion, it require the temperature to be at 900 degrees celsius and baked for eight to nine hours to strengthen the ceramic.

The high temperature combustion require the temperature to be approximately 1200 degrees celsius and baked for 10 to 12 hours. This is intended to cooking and preserve the color that has been applied to the ceramic. For some ceramic products, the manufacturing process can take as long as two weeks. In Langkawi, most of the ceramic products are usually based on coral or coral reefs motifs. It is 100% handmade, except for items that have a smooth surface, which use machine to produce it.

COCONUT SHELLS

Formed crystals that are ready to be cooled at room temperature for 12 hours to maintain the durability of these products. Among the items that can be produces is a vase, animal shapes, flowers , even paperweight and more shape.

MARBLE

Marble is metamorphosed limestone, composed of fairly pure calcite (a crystalline form of calcium carbonate, CaCO3). It is extensively used for sculpture, as an building material, and in many other applications. Various machines used for cutting marble and formed into the desired shape. SENI KHAT

Kufic is the oldest calligraphic form of the various Arabic scripts and consists of a modified form of the old Nabataean script. Its name is derived from the city of Kufa, Iraq. Although it was known as in Mesopotamia at least a 100 years before the foundation of Kufa. At the time of the emergence of Islam, this type of script was already in use in various parts of the Arabian Peninsula. It was in this script that the first copies of the Qu’ran were written.

Wood Carving or sculpture is an one of the many traditional art craft within the Malay community. Various motif were used in wood carving such as sand motif, wave motif, water motif and also motif of flora and fauna. Wood carving skills can also be applied to decorate the traditional Malay knife and dagger. Woven pandanus is one of the arts cultivated by our ancestors since previous era. But nowadays not many people who can continue this activities because of modernity that surrounds us.
